Trapped Ion Quantum Computing Tutorial

This tutorial covers the three basic elements needed for creating a quantum computer.  Quantum computers have the possibility of running a few notable algorithms much faster then their classical counterparts.  However, the requirements for creating a working quantum computer are difficult to achieve.  Trapped ion systems have overcome all the requirement and have been shown to be nearly ideal candidates for implementing a quantum computer.

The three elements needed for a quantum computer are:

  1. Qubit Isolation from the environment
  2. Excellent Qubit Detection
  3. Strong Qubit Interaction

This tutorial will walk through all three requirements, explaining how trapped ion systems accomplish them.  Use the navigation bar on the left to skip to a particular topic, or use the "next" and "previous" buttons on the bottom bar to step through the entire tutorial.
